Beberapa hari lepas, aku dapat invitation ke Versace spring/summer 2023 fashion show, virtually because I subscribe to their newsletters. Aku tak rasa nak tengok pun fashion show tu tapi sebab malam tu aku tak tidur lagi, aku pun macam, bolehlah. Invitation tu kata show tu mula pukul 1 pagi tapi setengah jam lebih jugalah aku kena tunggu sebelum show tu mula. Mula - mula, diaorang pasang satu music ni dan aku suka music tu sebab dia mysterious tapi lepas tu, diaorang pasang lagu sembah setan, seriously. Aku rasa kalau diaorang terus pasang music tu lagi bagus.
Review aku, I like the lighting and the runway, especially bahagian yang ada stained glass bergerak - gerak keliling kepala Medusa tu but the other parts are meh. Now, the clothes. Aku cakap terus - teranglah, tak ada satu yang wow aku, honestly. Semua meh. Ada yang gaya Gen Z tu, seluar kembang, lagilah meh. Selalunya, dengan fashion show Versace, ada outfit yang buat aku pause video dan replay sebab aku nak tatap betul - betul outfit (macam Versace spring/summer 2020 fashion show dan Versace fall/winter 2020 fashion show) tapi kali ni, aku tak ada pause dan replay langsung. Kasut pula, ada dua sajalah kot yang aku rasa interesting, yang lain semua meh tapi tu pun, aku tak ada rasa macam, aku kena beli kasut tu. Dua - dua kasut tu high wedges and I love high wedges so thank you for bringing high wedges back. Finally, beg, ada satu sajalah kot yang aku rasa interesting. It's in purple metallic patent leather which is reminiscent of the bags in Versace fall/winter 2010 fashion show which is one of the best Versace fashion shows in my opinion but again, tu pun aku tak rasa macam aku kena beli beg tu.
My problem with Versace is, boleh tak buat satu benda yang iconic, contohnya Hermes terkenal dengan beg, Christian Louboutin dan Jimmy Choo terkenal dengan kasut, Burberry terkenal dengan trench coat, Balmain terkenal dengan blazer. Ni setiap season berubah. Kejap season ni, beg Virtus, kejap season depan, beg Medusa lepas tu beg Greca pula. It just screams, 'I don't have a clear direction and identity.' Aku tahu Versace terkenal dengan dia punya baroque print silk shirt tu tapi aku rasa macam it's not iconic enough. I know Versace as a sexy and opulent brand but I don't get that from them any more sejak diaorang pun jump on the bandwagon dan buat pakaian, beg dan kasut gaya Gen Z. Tulah, nak ambil hati Gen Z sangat sampai brand pun ke laut, padahal bukan diaorang yang ada purchasing power.
Versace is one of my favourite brands and I dare say it's my most favourite brand because I love all things Greek and I love the Greek motif. I wish they'd stop trying to please Zoomers and stop trying to be in trend. Just go back to the roots and be true to the brand. Sebab tulah aku lagi nak kena beli boots Versace tu sebelum Versace jadi hauk and it's already getting there. Dahlah Michael Kors beli Versace dan aku takut Michael Kors bagi Versace jadi tacky macam dia.
